"2B1" Album has been reviewed by Grammy-winning mixer/engineer Marc Urselli-Schaerer of Chain D.L.K.:
"Discrete Encounter is a NY based trio (music duo + visual projection person) who play some kick-ass female-fronted aggro-electronica, or whatever else you might want to call a powerful mixture of electronic music with heavy scratching distorted metal guitar riffs: industrial metal? electro metal? It doesn't matter really, the point is, it is good and it is hard! I've always been a fan of bands that mix pounding EBM/industrial rhythms & sequences and mash them up with distorted power chords and screaming guitars. Band leader Taras Mashtalir (who wrote all the material and also occasionally sings in his low growly voice) plays guitar with the impact and sonic assault of, say, Zakk Wylde but makes sure to let the music be beat-driven and electronic to the core. However all this vengeance's counter-part is the beautiful and soothing voice of Natasha Romanova, whose contribution will make "2B1" interesting and approchable even to fans of synth-pop and some darker music. Definitely right up the alley of fans of bands like Rammstein, Die Krupps, FLA, F242, Killing Joke, Strapping Young Lad, Oomph!, Clawfinger, Skinny Puppy, KMFDM and so on and so forth. Their newly released CD comes in a beautiful digipack art work and contains eleven tracks."
"A mind is often chasing a thought – so what?” I’m starting the week dancing, with a male/female vocal interacting that encourages me to get up and go, and be conscious of the child whose eyes are on me but whose miond is racing a million other places. “Nothing’s ever what it seems, I’m getting used to reading your mind. And if you never see my tears, it doesn’t mean I’ve never been crying.” Sounds like a bit of a downer, but the band keeps us getting washed up, clothed and ready for the week, prepared for whatever it wants to bring. I never know in my classroom which child is glad to be back in school after living through a weekend of hell. I know there’s a child or two that wish they could sing these words out. “Nothing’s ever what it seems, I’m getting used to reading your mind. And if you never see my tears, it doesn’t mean I’ve never been crying.” I only pray that my classroom is a place of refuge for those children. And, the narrator speaks directly at me as the song closes, “Just learn the eyes aren’t always willing to see – just be.” Thanks!"

"It took me listening to about 20 acts to get to a musical group that I actually had anything to say about. That’s kind of a lot of groups, you know? There were a few decent hip-hop groups in that midst, but notheinr that really called out to my fickle ear-brain. Maybe I was just looking for something a little more…EuroTrash. Discrete Encounter: It’s like the Eurythmics and Johnny Five in a passionate GHB-fueled sixty-nine, and I am ALL ABOUT THAT. The grinding, industrial pulse, the false harmonic pick squeals and chunka-chunka riffage, and ice-hearted, stoic female vocals drenched in reverb and digital delay… Plus, just look at them... Man, I wish my band was that photogenic. Or that Euro-chic. Either way, listening to their throbbing electro makes me want to hold up in a former slaughterhouse-turned-disco, dressed entirely in leather and dance until my bowels turn to jelly." Check Discreet Encounter’s MySpace. You can buy their new album, 2B1 for $25? Really?"
